A stranger in my neighborhood came to the house as I was talking with a neighbor, he pointed out the shingles laying on the road and where they had come off the roof. He also said he was pretty sure, based on that - I would have significant damage from a storm we had a week earlier.
I couldn't see the damage, but was concerned. He then tells me he can probably get my $42,000 roof replaced for either very little or nothing. I was sure this was a SCAM.
He said listen I've got an inspector coming tomorrow to do a neighbors house whom I knew, and it would take all of 15 minutes to check mine as well. I would know if I had further damage, it would cost me nothing for the inspection.
WELCOME, being in construction for 20 years I was wildly curious, set up the inspection, did tons of research, made tons of calls, and actually found "NOTHING DEROGATORY". Unbelievable, could I be wrong? Was my scam alert broken?
A couple days later a gentleman shows up, climbs on the roof, takes some pictures, shakes my hand and leaves.
THE DAMAGE HAD BEEN FOUND!!!
When I opened the email from the inspector, I WAS REALLY IMPRESSED, HIS WORK WAS METICULOUS! He had done a thorough job, found not only storm damage, he found a tree had broken the ridge on the roof (this had not been disclosed at purchase), he found a portion missing underlayment, he found the storm with winds of 85 MPH had lifted the shingles and exposed large areas to the weather which were gradually taking that water on like a sponge.
From here, the company handled the whole thing, they had a legal department, they had a large group of professionals to make sure we were taken care of.
MY INSURANCE DIDNT WANT TO PAY- after 30 years of faithful payments, I have a single claim- and these guys tried to balk. I COULDNT BELIEVEIT!! I did the math, I had paid to replace my roof numerous times- like 5. I was just asking them to take care of it 1x. At the end of the day, a single call from the legal team at the Roofing Company and yes, they took care of it.
I paid a $500 deductible to have a $42,000 roof replacement done, it increased the value of my house, stopped a spreading mold problem I didn't even know about, and remedied numerous structural safety issues. Im not going to go into further detail but really, who goes onto a 3rd story roof with a pitch like that for kicks and giggles?
Today, I live in Cape Coral. I sold my Contracting Company of 20 years called All American DAP, you can look it up still. I now proudly work as that same inspector for THE LARGEST ROOFING COMPANY IN THE STATE OF FL.
We specialize in helping families that have issues with there homes from storms, or just need a new roof or pool cage/lanais. Listen, let me help you- I lived in MD. We didn't have Storms like IRMA there. You did, she got you good and you don't even know it! Also while my roof would have cost $42k, your tile roof cost is upwards into $100k if not more- do you want to pay that?
I promise you its worth the 15 minutes it takes to do a FREE inspection. Right now this is urgent, you have until September- then it becomes your problem. Get it looked at now, while you have time.
