The Do’s and Don’ts of Septic Tank Clean-Outs…
Always Make Sure Your Septic Tank is pumped out through the Largest Available Access.
This is usually covered by an 18-24 inch cement lid or manhole cover. The lid may be buried under soil or often brought to surface with riser extension. Cleaning out your tank from the small pipe 4” to 6” in diameter also refered to as a “clean out” can cause damage to the septic system. It also doesn’t allow you to clean out the tank properly, so it’s important to make sure your tank is cleaned thoroughly from the main access.
