Before entering into the tile and flooring trade, I wanted to research different materials used and what made most sense with my eco-friendly, sustainability mindset. I believe that home remodels and renovations can keep the environment in mind without furthering our impact we have on it. That way, we can move forward for a brighter, more hopeful future. Which brought me to really loving ceramic and porcelain tile.
This extremely durable clay material can be repurposed when disposed of, it's super easy to clean, it lasts for a lifetime (walk into any historical chapel and you'll see what I'm talking about), and it's perfect for bathrooms. Sure, the cost can be a bit more elevated than it's competitors like LVT (Luxury Vinyl Tile) but did you know how incredibly impactful and harmful LVT materials are to not only the environment but to you? Each LVT square contains little bits of plastic and chemicals such as VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds) that goes shooting through the air when installed or removed. These chemicals can cause a variety of health issues including eye, nose, and throat irritation; headaches and loss of coordination; nausea; and damage to the liver, kidneys, or central nervous system. And when LVTs are thrown away and end up in landfills, where do you think those little plastics and chemicals end up?
When I'm working on your project, I'm not only keeping the environment's health in mind but I'm keeping the health of you and your family in mind too. I hope this sets a standard across the industry and becomes the go-to mentality.
