Time for the yearly reminder!
Preparing for a freeze:
1.) FILL THE POOL WITH WATER. If your water level gets low, it cannot circulate properly. Your autofill should be disconnected during this time in order to winterize your hose bib.
2.) KEEP IT CIRCULATING. As long as the water is circulating through the pipes, they should not freeze. Be sure the pool is clean and that skimmer baskets and pump baskets are empty.
3.) WINTERIZE WATER FEATURES / SLIDES. Turn off all programs that would automatically turn water feature pumps on. Remove the drain plugs from water feature pumps and leave the lid off the pump. Depending on your setup, you may need to blow out the lines as well.
4.) IN CASE OF POWER OUTAGE: You will need to winterize the entire pool. This should be done as soon as possible to prevent damage. There are great YouTube videos if you need help.
a. turn off the breakers to the pool equipment (you do not want it to turn back on while winterized)
b. remove pump lids
c. remove drain plugs from all pieces of equipment (pumps, filter, heater) **Make sure to put these in a safe place for later**
d. Remove lids from the valves with handles and clear check valves
Don't panic! You got this! Maybe you even want to try a Polar Plunge.
After the freeze, feel free to reach out if you need assistance.
