So back in December of last year, I was comissioned by one of our local animal rescues to build for the first time. . . A Rainbow Bridge.

Wow! What an honor to donate time, by building something that has such an emotional attatchment to myself personally, as well as many of us who know the broken hearted feeling of losing our sweet furry friends. My wife and I experienced this back in mid November of last year. Even now, we still miss our sweet Allie terribly.

So, here's a little behind the scenes look on how this emotionally rewarding project came together. I'm incredibly grateful to have been asked, as giving back to our community has been something that has been a big part of my life.

Oh, and thank you to my Sweet wife for being so understanding in having to take up the entire driveway for almost a month, as well as helping me pick the Rainbow colors, as this is not my forte. She also helped me get it loaded and set in place. I have thee bestest Wife Ever!!

For those who have seen the Guardians of the Galaxy movies, then you'll recognize this cassette tape. It was a project that I thought would be fun to do, and it was!! One of the best parts of being a carpenter.

In the photos are the specs, but some sizes had changed during the building process. The material that I chose was 1/2" and 1/4" MDF (medium density fiberboard) It's lightweight, smooth, sands easy, and cuts smooth. The actual tape portion was made with 1/8" thick rubber. The 4 colors are Home Depot colors and they are as follows:

Daredevil (Red)
Subtle Touch (White)
Royal Peacock (Blue)
Black

So now the cassette is stored in my closet, as I look for another cool project to build. If anyone has some ideas, then feel free to pass them on in the comments.

Wainscoting Video 17: This is the final video of the series. Hope you enjoyed it, and most important, hope it helped you to better understand the process of working with old fence wood. Maybe it'll spark a desire to try some of these projects in your home. Have a great day folks, and thank you for taking the time to watch these videos. :)
