I remember posting videos like this before and seeing people swear parents don’t actually talk to their kids this way.

“I’ve never heard a parent say that.”

“Nobody really does that.”

I wish that were true.

After hearing thousands of stories over the years, I’ve learned that what you see in a 30-second video is often the toned-down version.

Sometimes the first bully a child encounters isn’t at school.

It’s at home.

And sometimes it’s disguised as:

“I’m just preparing you for the real world.”

But if you have to tear your kids down to prepare them for life, you’re not preparing them for the world…

You’re becoming the very thing they’ll spend years trying to recover from. 💔❤️‍🩹

The same people who tell me, “That’s not how the real world works. You need to treat kids like the real world will,” are often the same people expecting free labor at home.

Funny how “the real world” only matters when it benefits the parent.

If we’re really preparing kids for the real world, maybe we should teach respect, communication, accountability… and yes, that work has value.

The goal isn’t to control our kids.
The goal is to prepare them.

Most parents don’t need more parenting hacks.

They need a different result.

Because doing the same thing louder…
longer…
and harder…

doesn’t always fix the problem.

Sometimes the breakthrough happens when you finally stop asking:

“What’s wrong with my child?”

and start asking:

“What am I missing?”

This conversation might change the way you see everything.

I guess some people still need reminders. I hear some parents say well my kids will do what I tell them to do 🤦‍♂️…Just because your kids are doing something for you…REMEMBER THIS!! Anyone can make a kid say “yes” 🙄

We’re more interested in why they’re saying it.

Fear creates compliance.
Respect creates trust.

In our house, respect goes both ways. If we can, we do. If we can’t, we explain.

The goal was never obedience.

The goal was a relationship they’ll still want when they don’t have to listen anymore. ❤️

A little reminder…Kids don’t learn respect from lectures.
They learn it from what gets modeled in the house every single day.

Sometimes the hardest truth for parents to hear is…
our kids are speaking our language back to us. 🎤

Some kids stop helping because every effort gets met with sarcasm, criticism, or ‘finally.’

The way we respond to our kids becomes the voice they hear when nobody’s around. 💔”

Reposting this because somebody out there probably needed to hear it again.

Some kids don’t need stricter parents…
they need parents they can actually talk to without feeling scared first.

A kid who feels safe telling the truth usually doesn’t have to become good at hiding it. 💔

Nobody likes a backseat driver. Don’t be a backseat parent!
Seriously, that’s why we have . They get more freedom, and we still get peace of mind 💜
