It’s been awhile since I posted here, (we’ve been focusing on releasing an album). Many people have been asking if I’m still working on instruments. The answer is YES! Message me with needs! THAT BEING SAID:

The house and property I work at got sold recently and will be ultimately razed, bulldozed, turned into million dollar condominiums at some near point in the future, but for now I’m still here tinkering.

Just installed pickups on a nice Weissenborn style guitar today and it sounds like a choir of angels!

Just about the cutest dang electric soprano Uke I’ve ever seen. Comes in its own space pod. “Lava U” made of carbon fiber coming in for a “stay in tune while overseas” restring and setup. Graphite in nut slots and shaved down the saddle a bit for better action. Very cool instrument!

Worked on a few new additions for our friends at Bear Creek Studio, and many more at the home shop! It’s busy season again, and I’m taking appointments for incoming instruments mostly Monday-Wednesdays. Can sometimes accommodate other days.

You know you are using old tools when they say “West Germany”! (Pre October 3, 1990)

Setting up this Squire J. Mascis Jazzmaster to its very best life with heavier 12-52’s. Absolutely awesome guitars for the price.
Note, the note from Phoenix, he picked up my line and spelled it “appslotley ausom” many moons ago. 😂

Tinkered on this custom made acoustic steel string guitar by Del Langejans in Michigan, USA. This thing sounds great!

Came in for a setup/restring, fret polish/fingerboard cleaning, bridge pin upgrade from plastic to fossilized walrus ivory, and a general inspection.

If anyone knows Del personally, both my friend and I would love to know more about this particular build!

Must have been one of his before the double truss rod and solid rosewood neck. The neck is mahogany. Spruce top. What I believe is Indian rosewood back and sides (not heavy, so maybe not his signature 1/4” solid sides)

Some of the my favorite jobs are Gutting and Rewiring less expensive instruments with quality components. It’s a way to save a lot of money and still get “that sound” you are looking for!

Such is the case with this Squire Classic Vibe Mustang (short scale) bass.

This beauty of a Squire husk got a set of (highly recommended brand)! All vintage style cloth wiring, a .047 Orange Drop Capacitor, 2x 250K CTS Potentiometers, and a output jack.

The CTS pots had a larger shaft diameter than that of the import mini pots that came stock, so a trip to the drill press was in order to ream the proper diameter.

This bass really thumps, the difference is night and day-

Quick setup and intonation and out the door!
