It’s an honor to sponsor the school my whole family attended growing up! We still have a Droddy there also. We look forward to many more years of sponsorship for PNG Athletics
PHOTO OF THE WEEK: Our Photos of the Week this year were powered by Droddy Roofing.
And here it is, folks. Our LAST Photo of the Week for 2025-26.
The Photo of the Week for the Week of May 29 was shot by NDN Press photographer Timothy Jones (‘28).
Timothy shot this photo during the PNG Indians Baseball team’s Regional Final series with Kingwood Park on Saturday, May 23.
The severe weather threat that altered our graduation ceremony found a way to also affect the playoff series that week.
The day after graduation, the varsity baseball team played in a re-scheduled, Friday evening double-header at Crosby, where the two teams split a pair, forcing a deciding Game 3 on Saturday.
With storms forecasted to linger in the afternoon, the teams agreed to move Game 3 to Lufkin.
With two outs in the bottom of the 2nd inning, and Kingwood Park up 2-0, their batter sent a ball sky high into foul territory, where third baseman Eli Curtis (’26) and catcher Logan Asebedo (’27) rushed toward it.
Curtis was able to get under it to make the play, diving as he did, and as the ball entered his glove, it hit the ground, causing the ball to pop out.
Snapping away on the frenzied action, Timothy captured the moment the Curtis twisted around and attempted to secure the loose ball with his bare hand, with Asebedo also making a dive for it.
Unfortunately, neither would be able to grasp it as it landed foul to extend the at-bat.
The Indians would get out of the inning two pitches later as Mason West (’29) caught a pop fly to shallow right field.
The 2-0 lead proved all the Panthers would need as PNG fell, 5-1 to end the series and their season, giving all it could in a battle to the end.
Way to go, Timothy!! 📸💜
As for Photos of the Week, we thank you for following along, again. We will be back to begin a new year with new shots once activity picks back up in late July.
And we cannot wait to get going. 😎
