Colt Kimball Racing

Colt Kimball Racing 8 year old Go Kart Driver Hi, I'm Colt Kimball and I am 10 years old. I am a racing enthusiast. I got my first taste of racing on a BMX bike. I screamed! I cried!!

I began getting into racing when I would watch my step dad, Mike, race his go-kart and dirt sportsman. I loved helping him work on the car and going and watching him race. I would go to a local track every Wednesday night and learn the concepts of getting better at passing and overall racing. I did very well at BMX and was consistently competitive every week. However, as a natural born motorhead,

I needed something more. Something faster and more powerful than my own two legs. Since I could talk, I always wanted a dirt bike. I even had my mom change my room to a motocross themed bedroom. I looked up videos on my tablet of dirt bikes and would fall asleep every night thinking of them. I went to see my first motocross event at Utica Rome Speedway and for the next two weeks voiced to my mom and Mike about how much I wanted one. They didn't like the idea of only having two wheels. At the end of the school year, I had worked really hard and had a great report card. My behavior at school was much better and I was on a good path with my teachers and friends. With this, I was rewarded! One day I was watching tv in my boxers and I heard a dirt bike outside. I looked out the window and saw Michael standing there with one my size!!!!! I even ran outside in my boxers to see it!!! I had never been more happy in my entire life. My mom made me get some clothes on and I was able to ride around in my driveway. I couldn't believe how heavy it was compared to my carbon fiber BMX bike. The next week I practiced everyday learning how to balance and ride over jumps at some local practice tracks. On July 5, 2017 I entered my first race at Royal Mountain. I had a strong 2nd place finish. I was so excited! I couldn't wait to race again. During a practice my older brother, Wyatt, would ride our play wheeler around on the track and he was really fast. Mike offered to get him a racing quad so he could race too. He said he wanted to but then decided he didn't like it after practicing on a racing one. However, I wanted to try the racing quad. I got on it and that was it. I was hooked. I loved everything about the quad and totally forgot about the dirt bike. After about 3 races on the dirt bike, I switched over to the quad once we got a 50 cc motor for it. My second race at royal mountain on the quad, I finished in 1st place. The next few races at various tracks, I have remained consistent and strongly competitive. I finished every D3 race with a 1st place finish. At the end of 2018 I was offered a ride in a gokart at the first ever (and as of now only ever) Utica Rome Go kart race. It was a Wednesday night race. My goal was to stay out of everyone’s way. Well I sure did, I passed everyone and finished first. I made the decision while taking the checkered flag to go full into gokart racing. That Sunday Utica Rome also hosted a d3 motor cross race. I went to that as my finale on my quad and finished 1st. Ending strong with my motocross days. I am super proud to have won at Utica Rome Speedway twice in two different facets of racing in one week. With go karts I became the NYS Indoor champion, competed strongly in outdoor at various local tracks with several first place finishes. Most Recently - we have purchased a slingshot and due to COVID only had the opportunity to race twice in 2020. I finished 4th in my first ever race in a Sling shot at Glen Ridge and 1st place in my second ever time in the far at Five Mile point. Next year - the skies the limit and I am looking forward to getting more seat time. I would like to thank my sponsors Fastline Performance, Charles Tibbitts Masonry Construction, BLVD Self Storage, Johns Auto Restoration, Senior Services, Hotel Willowvale, Superior Mowing Services, and many many more. I would also like to thank my crew: Michael Walton, Annmarie Walton and Wyatt Kimball. Special thanks to Chris & Bernie Mackey, Tim & Addison Bowman and 2j. Thank you for stopping by and showing your support.
