It's been a stormy summer in the Greater Madison area, and jobs like this one have kept our crew busy. Clearing storm-damaged limbs, running the chipper, and cleaning up after trees that just couldn't hold up to the wind.

This job is a good example of why it matters: a large limb came down right on a customer's truck. Luckily, the damage was minimal this time, but it's a reminder of how quickly an overgrown or weakened branch can turn into a real problem when a storm rolls through.

One of our own played a part in a pretty incredible rescue.🦅

While fishing with his family at Wyalusing State Park, our sales arborist Jim Peters spotted a bald eagle, now named Arbor, tangled in fishing line at the top of a dead tree. Because Jim's an experienced arborist, he was able to recognize the tree was too unsafe to climb and instead helped bring it down safely, freeing Arbor without further injury.

Arbor is now recovering at Hoo's Woods Raptor Center after treatment and a team relay to get him there. Read the full story below.

Summer heat and dry stretches can be tough on trees, and here in , that stress often shows up before you'd expect. Between drought, compacted soil, and pests like emerald ash borer and oak wilt, a lot can be happening beneath the surface.

Watch for:
- Wilting or leaf scorch, even after watering
- Yellowing, browning, or undersized leaves
- Early leaf drop or canopy thinning
- Cracked, peeling, or oozing bark
- Mushrooms at the base of the tree

Don't wait it out if you spot any of this. Catching stress early is often the difference between treatment and removal; alone can kill a red oak within two months, and summer is its peak season for spread.
