A tuition-free job training program in Hawaii celebrated its first graduating class in construction and skilled trades Monday night, with all 10 students immediately signing job offers or entering apprenticeships. ⬇️

8/18?: I’ve got a Q&A in my IG stories right now. this question has been popping up in my DMs for the last week though so I thought I would address it.

People are asking if the interview is on the same day as the general knowledge test and when they can expect any follow up emails after they take their tests. Simply put, I don’t have that answer. They have so many people to process I just don’t think everyone’s timeline is going to look exactly the same. Be patient, check your emails, read them carefully and check your junk mail folder.

Be happy you don’t have to wait for the post office to deliver your mail at 4 in the afternoon on a random day of the week like how I did 🤣🤣🤣

It’s normal to be nervous about the panel interview. Hopefully those preparing will be able to walk into the interview a little more relaxed and confident. Just breathe. You got this.

If I was applying into Local 3 Operating Engineers Apprenticeship program all over again this is how I would use AI to help me interview prep.

Here are the a few questions I pulled from my very simple google search that I would be spending time on:

* Why do you want to join the Operating Engineers apprenticeship?
* Where do you see your career in the union five years from now?
* Describe a conflict you had with a coworker(or other workplace conflict) and how you solved it.
* How do you respond when a supervisor criticizes your work? (How do you handle constructive criticism? Can you give an example?)
* What do you do if you are given unclear instructions by a boss?
* What steps do you take to ensure you are never late? (This is your plan you have to make sure you are getting to work despite any challenges you could face.)

I believe the best of the best are already doing this process. Btw, Only 1-2% of people watch my reels all the way through lol. And even after everything I post and share how many do you think are really going to push themselves to prepare and show up as their best selves????

A helpful tip when youre thinking of better ways to search for your study/interview prep tools.

You’re not just applying for a job. This is an apprenticeship. A training program. You’re applying to learn and be a student. As you compile practice interview questions start thinking what that means and what kind of student you tend to be.

Your answers should be honest and genuine to who you really are.

This is just my own personal opinion you do what’s best for you.

The way AI can help with your study and interview prep for the 2026 Hawai’i OE3 apprenticeship intake is so crazy. In 2016 I made it into the top 10 for my category with no AI, just sparse google results and an SAT prep guide I got from Amazon.

But it’s not enough to just gather the prep resources, who’s actually taking the time, putting in the work, practicing interviewing, brushing up on their math and reading?

A very fair and common question I see on my content, dms and even other OE3 creators posts asking about what’s on the general knowledge test. Absolutely not taking a dig at anyone but one of the things I notice about the truly great operators is that they are proactive self starters with some amazing critical thinking and problem solving skills.

I’d encourage anyone who is serious about this opportunity to start practicing those skills now starting with the upcoming general knowledge test. Even if you don’t get in or place high, practicing those types of skills now will only make you better for your next great opportunity.

I hesitate to give answers but love to share starting off points for you to work from. It’s up to you how far you want to take it and how much effort your putting in.
