During we are highlighting black inventors who changed the water industry. Lewis Latimer was the son of a couple who escaped slavery. Living in Massachusetts, he grew up in an active abolitionist community. Latimer finished his career as one of the "Edison Pioneers," a group that helped establish the electric light industry. He also invented a better restroom for railroad cars.
