A newly installed bluestone and brick patio graces this quintessential Capitol Hill front yard, creating an inviting space for relaxation and entertainment. The existing lawn was removed, and various plantings were thoughtfully repositioned to center the patio perfectly. When the time is right, the Red Dragon Japanese maple will be relocated to provide ample space for growth, ultimately serving as the focal point of the garden.

Camp Landscape recently relocated to Washington DC. As I learn the lay of the land, I’ve started a renovation project on our home in Capitol Hill. Like most historic rowhomes, outdoor living space is tight, and the goal is to make the most out of our small spaces. This first project of a stone and brick welcome mat brings together some of the colors and common hardscape materials found in the neighborhood- bluestone and clay brick, intertwined with granite curbing.
I’m continuing to plot and scheme the best way to make the most of our space, and I hope you follow along as I post the progress. As a bonus, I’m also very excited to plant an Japanese Maple as I’ve always wanted one but have never lived in the right zone. Cheers!
