Lawn Mower Operator
A Lawn Mower Operator maintains the health and appearance of residential, commercial, or public landscapes by operating riding or push mowers, string trimmers and edgers. Responsibilities include cutting grass to designated heights, performing routine equipment maintenance, trimming, clearing debris and following safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities
• Equipment Operation: Safely operate riding mowers, push mowers, and trimmers for turf maintenance.
• Landscaping Maintenance: Mow, edge and trim lawns, hedges and flower beds to maintain aesthetic appeal.
• Equipment Care: Perform daily checks (oil, fuel, tire pressure, belt inspection) and routine cleaning of machinery.
• Site Cleanup: Clear debris, leaves, and trash from work areas, walkways and parking lots.
• Safety Adherence: Follow all safety procedures to protect oneself and the public while operating machinery.
• Optional Duties: Maintain irrigation systems.
Job Requirements
• Physical Stamina: Ability to sit or stand for long periods, frequently get on/off equipment, and lift, push, or pull equipment.
• Technical Skills: Basic knowledge of lawn care techniques, plant health and small engine maintenance.
• Attention to Detail: Ensuring even cutting, precise edging and thorough cleaning.
• Experience: Previous experience in landscaping, mowing or heavy equipment operation is often preferred.
Typical Working Conditions
• Full-time, seasonal (often mid-March – mid-November) depending on grass growth.
• 10-14 hour shifts may be required.
• Outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
