Some days it’s all about the produce you bring in…some days it’s about pushing back the margins - in life and in the garden.
As my Missouri friends know we’re having a “cool” streak this week so I’m going to do my best to get stuff done outdoors that we normally can’t do during the summer..
We have cucumbers, yellow squash, jalepenos and tomatoes that need eaten and or processed so today - despite a slight summer cold those are my goals. We’ll see how far down the list I get today.

Made bacon wrapped jalepeno poppers - pic is before the bacon homegrown jalepenos and bacon. Pickings from the garden are starting to explode. We also butchered 1/2 our buffalo orpingtons with the other 1/2 going this next week.

It’s been a busy week. We’ve picked several rounds of cucumbers. I did not@pick today but I probably should have. I picked green beans yesterday and I expect they’ll all be eaten today 😆 somehow I got into poison ivy and it always picks the icky places for me so it’s on the inside of my elbow. It has made doing anything with my elbow bent interesting.

Two lonely strawberries lol they’ve been eat one each kiddo. Mammoth jalepenos - Stephen bought me plants bc the starts looked sickly; banana peppers, a handful of green beans and 11 cucumbers - they’re pickling so now they’re eating. We’ve been getting a handful a day enough to keep us in fresh eating and I’ve pickled a 1/2 canner full as well as two quarts of refrigerator pickles.

Tomatoes got pruned this morning. So far very little blight. The tomatoes are loaded on most of the plants…and I’ve been told there’s always a wild one that won’t weave so the third pic is the one that refuses to conform 😂😂😂😂😂

Picked cucumbers and the first of the jalepenos. Canned sweetish pickles (don’t ask for a recipe bc I mixed two together lol) and sweetish but not candied jalepenos (I used the same brine for both). Our tomato plants are loaded and some are starting to blush.

The cucumber influx has begun. We eat a lot of fresh cucumbers. I only ate planted pickling cucumbers this year bc Gabriel likes to eat them small and I plan on canning/fermenting a bunch this year. We have about 8 in the fridge for eating and this pile made 2 quarts of refrigerator pickles that are fermenting.

Got mulch down in the entire herb area - yes I almost died a couple times 😂. 5 tracker buckets of mulch. I did not snap a pic before it was too dark but I will have Stephen take one tomorrow.

Went into the garden for the first time in a few days…between work and rain. The fruits of my labor was 4 cucumbers picked, checked all the squash plants and no squash bugs or eggs so that’s a plus. I have some tiny seedlings that I’m going to get into the ground in the new couple days as well. Our LSG pups got out and went on an adventure. We’ve split them up and only letting one out at a time which means one objections but they don’t leave.
