Caulking is a small detail, but can be of ginormous consequence. Switching out the flooring when we get to a soft spot under the window. Turns into structural work. All of it could be avoided with 5 minutes of labor and a tube of caulk.

Structural integrity is important. Even with a tight budget you can make it work.
