It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our longtime employee and friend, Jack Osborn.

Jack was a dedicated mechanic at Peterson Construction for over 20 years. His knowledge, hard work, and steady presence kept the equipment running day in and day out. More than that, Jack was someone you could always count on—respected by his coworkers and appreciated by all who knew him.

Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with Jack’s family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time as he will be greatly missed.

Jack Osborn, 70, of Webster City died Monday, March 30, 2026 at Van Diest Medical Center. A visitation will be held from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm Saturday, April 4, 2026 at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center. Burial will be at Cass Center Cemetery.
Jackie Dean Osborn, son of Frederick Jr. and Shirley (Wilson) Osborn, was born October 23, 1955 in Webster City, Iowa. He graduated from Stratford high school in 1973. On January 26, 1974, Jack was united in marriage to Patricia Runge in Stratford. To this union two sons were born, Jeff and Jess. The couple later divorced. Jack met his life-long partner, Jane Felts and the couple enjoyed their time together, especially in Lake Okoboji. Over the years Jack worked for Osborn Tractor Repair, Jewell Implement, Dymle Construction, Rees Truck and Trailer and Peterson Construction. He had a lifelong passion for motorcycle drag racing at many tracks around the Midwest as well as helping his son with his motorcycle drag racing. The same passions then shifted gears to boating at Lake Okoboji and sharing stories about his grandchildren.
He is survived by his sons, Jeff (Stacy) Osborn of Eagle Grove, Jess (Heather) Osborn of Central City; grandchildren, Brandi (Ben) Wesselink, Brittney (Keegan) Osborn, Brooklyn Osborn, Madison (Trevor) Trende, Braydon Osborn; great-grandchildren, Sterling and Nyla; step-mother, Lois Osborn of Webster City; friend, Patrica Carlson of Webster City and Jane’s family, Michele (Mark) Claude, Stephanie (Mike) Nokes, Jeff (Cami) Felts and their children Jacob (Jackie) Claude, Garett (Taylor) Claude, Mason (Jenna) Claude, Makenzie Nokes, Cole (Taylor) Nokes, Cade (Natalie) Felts, Kendyl Felts and five great-grandchildren.
Jack was preceded in death by his life-partner, Jane Felts; his parents, Frederick Osborn and Shirley Schmidt; and his brother, Lyle Osborn.

It is with great sadness to share the passing of Lance Messerly. Lance was a member of the Peterson Construction family for nearly 25 years. Our thoughts are with his family as they are navigating this difficult time. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 3, 2025 at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center in Webster City.

He graduated from Webster City High School in 1986 and then attended lowa Central Community College for two years and lowa State University for one year prior to starting a career in construction.
In his youth, Lance was an incredible cattle showman and spent many, many hours in the barn caring for his show cattle. His highlight came in 1981 with his steer J.R. who had record breaking 11 Grand Championships before being sold to Vogels of Texas who continued to show him. He was involved in 4-H, FFA and later became a leader and a mentor to many youths in the area. Lance was a member of the Cattleman's Association and Pheasants Forever for many years.

Since 2001, Lance had been working at Peterson Construction as a Project Manager for the remainder of his career until his sudden passing. He recently completed his CCO in Certified Crane Operator.
Lance loved everything about the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting. He would take every vacation and spare moment he had to be out on his boat trying to catch the big fish, most of the time with his sons by his side. Lance loved to not only hunt pheasant, turkey, ducks and deer, but also mushroom hunting behind his childhood home and anywhere he could find them.
Lance did not know a stranger and was always fast with a smile and a hearty laugh. There is a long list of lifetime friends that he enjoyed over the years. Most importantly, his treasures were his children.
