It’s officially looking for its next home. 🤎✨

What started as a forgotten 1950s Union National secretary became a gorgeous statement

We’re incredibly proud of how it turned out, and while it’s bittersweet to see it go, that’s the best part of what we do—giving beautiful pieces a second chance with someone new.

We wanted to share a few of our favorite photos before it begins its next chapter.

If you’ve been following along, thank you for being part of this journey. ❤️

If you think this secretary belongs in your home—or know someone who has been looking for a timeless statement piece—send us a message!

Every scratch had a story. Here’s how it ends.

When we first brought this Union National secretary home, we thought we were simply restoring an old desk.

Then we discovered the original badge, handwritten pencil marks, dovetail joints, and decades of craftsmanship hiding beneath years of wear.

What started as a furniture project became a journey to preserve a piece of history.

From removing stubborn duct tape and polishing every piece of original hardware to sanding, staining, and adding a subtle modern surprise inside, every decision was made with one goal in mind: to honor the past while preparing it for the future.

Today, we’re so excited to share the finished result.

This isn’t just a restored secretary.

It’s a reminder that beautiful things are worth saving.

Thank you for following along, cheering us on, and being part of this journey. We can’t wait to share many more stories with you.

Sometimes honoring history means adding a new chapter, not rewriting the story. 🌿✨

From the beginning, our goal with this Union National secretary was to preserve everything that made it special. We wanted every repair, every finish, and every detail to respect the craftsmanship of the original piece.

But we also wanted to add one little surprise…

So we tucked a modern touch inside—a beautiful wallpaper that feels elegant, timeless, and just unexpected enough to make you smile every time the desk is opened.

It’s our way of blending yesterday with today while letting the original beauty remain the star of the show.

And if you think that’s the last surprise…

😉 We’ve saved one more for the final reveal.

One of our favorite parts of restoring this piece of vintage furniture has been uncovering the little details most people never see.

The handwritten pencil marks inside this Union National secretary, the original manufacturer’s badge, and the beautifully crafted dovetail joints all tell part of its story.

No single detail can pinpoint an exact year, but when these clues are considered together—along with the style, construction methods, and materials—they help us confidently place this secretary in the late 1950s.

These pencil marks were never meant to last for generations. They were simply notes left behind by the craftsmen who built this piece, helping identify parts and guide the assembly process. Today, they’re a quiet reminder that this desk wasn’t just manufactured—it was carefully built by skilled hands.

That’s why we choose to preserve these details whenever we can.

Because restoration isn’t just about making old furniture beautiful again—it’s about honoring the people who built it and preserving the history they left behind.

Another day of staining in the books.

Staining is hands-down my favorite part.

After all the cleaning, repairs, and sanding, this is the moment the wood finally gets to tell its story. Watching the grain come alive and the rich color return never gets old.

With every brushstroke, this beautiful Union National secretary is one step closer to becoming the showpiece it was always meant to be.

Some people see old furniture…

We see potential waiting to shine.

This is where the transformation really begins. 🤎

After hours of cleaning, repairs, and sanding, it was finally time to pre-stain and stain the drawers.

Watching the wood come back to life never gets old. Every coat brings out the rich grain and reminds us why taking the time to restore these vintage pieces is so rewarding.

One drawer at a time, this Union National secretary is becoming beautiful again.
