Greenlee Tools - I bought my first Greenlee tool in 2002, cable cutters. And I just sharpened them and used them on a service change 2 weeks ago. Tools matter. Quality tools are essential.

The story of this artifact goes like this.

The signature on this IBEW tag is of Henry Joseph Erhardt Sr, my great grandfather.

Henry Sr. was an electrical lineman from Iowa who eventually settled in Cleveland, OH in the early 1900s...where he became an electrician and a founding member of IBEW Local 38, member #4 to be exact.

During his time as an electrician, Henry Sr. was part of the wave of electrical workers across the country installing electrical systems in homes and business for the first time.

As the crews would install their work, they would leave their "calling cards" in the light fixtures and light switch and outlet boxes.

Fast forward to the mid-1960s, Henry Joseph Erhardt Jr. (my grandfather) was on a ladder replacing a light fixture in the home where he was raising his 10 children in Lakewood Ohio.

All of a sudden, my grandfather notices this tag in the light fixture, takes note of HIS FATHER'S SIGNATURE and nearly falls of the ladder!!

I always loved hearing this story being told by my aunts and uncles when I was growing up. Now, this story has an even more special meaning as Henry Electric Company continues the family lineage of the electrical trade.
