What an awesome project we were able to do at a beautiful home in Naples. Laying sod in 100+ degree weather is something that must be done right. The homeowner set his irrigation to run 4 times a day for the next two weeks - which is absolutely necessary in this heat.
Removal and disposal of old grass ✅
Remove roots, rocks, sticks ✅
Till up old dirt ✅
Rake in fresh top soil and compost ✅
Lay sod and make cuts ✅
Water immediately in the evening ✅
Adjust irrigation frequency and timing ✅

Laying new sod in the summer requires a lot of attention, especially if there isn’t much rain. Watering it 2-3 times a day early in the morning and in the evening is essential for the grass to take root and stay green.
