After giving some more thought to what our customers need as we continue to grow, we've expanded our original position into a full-time, salaried opportunity with greater responsibility for project coordination, customer relationships, and day-to-day operations.

We're looking for an exceptional communicator and problem solver who enjoys being out in the field, working with people, and taking ownership of projects.

Construction experience isn't required. We're more interested in finding someone who's naturally organized, professional, proactive, and capable of learning the business.

Starting salary: $50,000 + PTO/Holidays + full mileage reimbursement.

Vanguard Homes is looking for a Project Coordinator (full or part-time) to help manage the day-to-day activity on our jobsites. Are you dependable, well-organized, and detail-oriented? Are you big on communication, problem solving, and excited to build houses our customers love? Construction experience is not necessary -- we'll teach you everything you need to know!

Responsibilities:

- Visit active jobsites and check progress daily
- Communicate with subcontractors, homeowners, vendors, inspectors
- Identify issues or missing information before they cause delays
- Take photos, provide updates, and track tasks
- Coordinate inspections, deliveries, materials, and homeowner selections
- Learn what to look for during each stage of residential construction

What we're looking for:

- Highly organized and dependable
- Strong communicator
- Observant and detail-oriented
- Assertive enough to ask questions and speak up when something needs attention
- Good critical thinker and problem solver
- Comfortable working independently
- Comfortable using apps, text, email, Google Drive, and project-management software
- Reliable transportation and ability to travel between jobsites around Wichita Falls and surrounding areas
- Ability to work outdoors, walk active jobsites, and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
- Construction or project-management experience is a plus, but not required

Pay: Hourly, based on experience + gas/mileage reimbursement

We are proud to have been involved in authoring this post, and even prouder of the carpenters, plumbers, electricians, mechanics, welders, technicians, and masons who work on our homes and take such pride in their crafts! Encourage someone you love to become an apprentice or enroll in a trade school today!

This Labor Day we want to recognize and thank the skilled tradespeople in residential construction who quite literally build the world around us.

Carpenters, electricians, plumbers, ironworkers, welders, heavy equipment operators and countless other craft professionals transform blueprints into the homes and apartments where North Texans build their lives.

Their work demands precision, problem-solving, physical endurance and years of training through apprenticeships and hands-on experience. These are not “jobs you take when you can’t go to college.” They are highly skilled careers that require continuous learning, strict adherence to safety standards and pride in quality craftsmanship.

All too often, the skilled trades remain under-appreciated and under-promoted. Many young people are steered exclusively toward four-year degrees while excellent, well-paying opportunities in residential construction go unfilled. The result is a persistent shortage of qualified workers at a time when communities need reliable, safe and affordable housing. That shortage reduces the supply of new homes and raises building costs, both of which push home prices higher and worsen affordability.

This Labor Day, let’s give these men and women more than a long weekend. Let’s thank them for the roofs over our heads and the floors beneath our feet. The homes and apartments we live in stand as quiet testimony to their skill. Let’s encourage schools, parents and counselors to present the trades as a first-choice path, not a fallback. And let’s support policies and programs that strengthen apprenticeship opportunities so the next generation can carry this essential work forward.

On Labor Day and every day, these skilled professionals deserve our respect, recognition and investment in the future of their trades.
