I was asked to fill a couple of watering cans with flowers for a little girl’s birthday party. To be honest, I was a little nervous because there are only bits and pieces blooming right now, and then the downpour we got took out several of the flowers I had been planning to use.

In the end, though, I couldn’t be happier with how these turned out! It was a fun challenge pulling together something special from what was available, and I think these watering can arrangements are as sweet as can be for a birthday celebration.

Getting your hands dirty really does pay off.

After months of digging, planting, weeding, and tending the garden, we’re finally being rewarded with these gorgeous peonies in bloom. Their beauty almost makes you forget about the dirt under your fingernails and the sore muscles.

Now if only Facebook had a smell sensor! The fragrance of these peonies is just as amazing as their blooms.

Who’s ready for peony season?

I know I post the same flower every single year, but I just can’t help myself the colors in it are so stunning the vibrant purple with the dark purple throat and pink undertones. I absolutely love this iris and wish I had 100 more of them.

Starting a new series: What’s blooming in the garden this week.

This week the garden is starting to show off with these bright beauties!
Totally tangerine geum, blue by you salvia, and cheerful pink anemones are stealing the spotlight right now. Every week brings something new around here and I’m definitely not complaining about all this color. 🌸🧡💜

What’s your favorite combo — bold oranges and purples or soft pinks?

Stick around for more… as the garden really starts exploding, these updates will need to happen more than once a week!

Most tulips, once they fully open, start looking a little tired pretty quickly… droopy petals, fading out, looking about done for.

But this one… Ooh La La 😍

She saves the best for last. Somehow even prettier fully open than when she was closed up. The layers, the color, the ruffles… absolutely stunning right to the very end.

Spring Tulips – Part Three: Crunchy Cu**in & Fringed Daytona

For part three of my spring tulip series, I’m featuring Crunchy Cu**in and Fringed Daytona—two tulips with very different shapes and textures.

Crunchy Cu**in has a bold, bright color and a classic tulip shape, making it strong and eye-catching in a bouquet.
Fringed Daytona, with its delicate fringed edges and softer tones, adds texture and a more intricate look.

Together, they create a mix of bold color and interesting detail, giving bouquets both impact and depth when they bloom in spring. While these varieties are both new tome this year I think they are going to be favorites.

Question for you:
Do you like tulips with bold, simple shapes, or ones with more texture and detail in bouquets?

For part two of my spring tulip series, I’m featuring Light and Dreamy and Claudia—two very different tulips that work well together.

Light and Dreamy has soft, pale coloring and a fuller look, giving it a gentle, airy feel.
Claudia, on the other hand, is bolder, with strong purple tones and crisp white edges that really stand out.

Together, Light and Dreamy keeps things calm while Claudia adds contrast and definition. I’m looking forward to seeing how the softer tones balance out the sharper colors when they in a bouquet.

Question for you:
Do you prefer softer, pastel tulips, or bold ones that stand out more?
