Today was a big day for Timber Wolf Services as we strive to innovate our business model. A Few months ago we submitted our application and pitch for a competitive grant program and we were 1 of 21 small businesses across South Carolina selected. We then completed cohort sessions with information on developing our plans and how to achieve greater success in our industry. We had the opportunity to hear from industry professionals about, marketing, legal, finance, planning and ex*****on. We were awarded a grant to begin the first phase of our rebrand and advance our capabilities while focusing on Sustainable Forestry Operations. Our goal is not to be looked at as just “the guy in the machine” but as a cutting edge steward of the land. A huge thanks to Wells Fargo Bank, South Carolina Small Business Development Center (SBDC), South Carolina Research Authority (SCRA), South Carolina Small Business Administration (SBA).

Last couple weeks have also been wild. We split a track while finishing the last big section of clearing. Did a field change of new sprockets and tracks. Finished the job and moved on the a new one. Last Tuesday while working out in the woods, I smelled hot wires, looked over my shoulder and flames were rolling out of the engine compartment. I booked it out of the woods to get the machine to a safe location that would not burn anything else. Windsor Volunteer FD made great time and put the fire out. Unfortunately the machine is a total loss. Been dealing with insurance and will be getting another machine soon to get back after our schedule jobs. Thank you to our customers being patient with us while we work out this mess.

I’ve been slacking on updates lately. Here is a clearing job we’re recently finished up, 13 acres of heavily wooded, raw land opened up to an 11.5acre pasture area, 1.5 acre future covered riding arena, outdoor riding area and a foaling pasture.

I’m happy to announce that we have won a competitive grant from the USDA to add a DJI Matrice 400 Enterprise drone and a Zenmuse L3 LiDar system to our mission. This will allow us to provide faster more accurate clearing estimates, detailed topographical information for drainage, planning for clearing that will be more efficient and result in less soil compaction during the clearing process. More details coming later on this spring!

Working on final cleanup of freshly cleared 6 acre pasture. One of our clients pups decided she was gonna be my co pilot. She made a good supervisor.
