The roof looked like the problem. The damage went further.
This Winter Garden roof had a leak that had made its way into the decorative wood soffit and roof decking. Once we opened the area up, we could see that some of the wood had deteriorated and needed to be replaced.
We repaired the damaged areas, replaced the wood, and sealed everything back up. With only one company to coordinate with for all the repairs our customer breathed a sigh of relief.
This is one of those repairs where what you can see from the ground doesn't always tell the whole story. A leak may start at the roof and travel before you ever see the damage. If you have a roof leak, don't just look at where the water shows up. Find out where it's getting in and what it's affecting.

Do you dream of building a new home? When you picture it, what do you see?

Maybe it’s big windows that bring in tons of natural light.
A kitchen designed exactly the way you want it.
High ceilings, a great outdoor space, beautiful finishes.
There are a lot of decisions that go into building a home, and every one of them matters. One of the most important, though, is something you may not think about as much:

The roof.

It protects everything from your family and belongings to all the details you spent months choosing. The roof also needs to be designed and installed correctly from the very beginning. Proper materials, ventilation, flashing, underlayment and installation all play a role in how your home performs for years to come. When you're building a new home, choosing the right roofer isn't just another box to check.
It's part of protecting everything you've built.

Storm damage? Start with the roof.
Living in Central Florida means we’re no strangers to strong winds, afternoon storms, hail, hurricanes, tornadoes and the occasional tree finding its way onto a roof. After a storm, roof damage isn’t always obvious from the ground although sometimes it is abundantly clear as in the photo.
If your roof is damaged or you think it might have been damaged, give us a call. We’ll come out, take a close look and help you understand what we find. If repairs or a replacement is needed we will help you through the process from inspection to completion.
If you are dealing with an insurance claim, our in-house storm mitigation specialist can help you document the damage and navigate the process.

Sometimes you find something under an old roof that makes you stop and appreciate the work that went into a house. We love peeling up the roof layers to find a pretty well-preserved roof deck. This roof deck has stood the test of time. From Hurricane Dora in 1964 to Milton in 2024, this deck has been here for more than 60 years. Who can even remember how many hurricanes we’ve had in that time?
Hurricanes are only part of the story.
Countless summer thunderstorms.
Hail.
Tornadoes.
Heat.
Humidity.
Years of rain and moisture.
Think about everything this house has seen since this decking was installed. There is something pretty remarkable about opening up a roof and finding original materials still doing their job decades later. We appreciate solid craftsmanship with good materials. We spend a lot of time talking about what could go wrong with old roofs. Every once in a while, it's worth stopping to appreciate what was done right.
60+ years later, this roof deck had a story to tell.

What kind of roofer do you need for a new home?
When you're building a new home, choosing your roofer probably isn't the first thing on your mind. You're choosing the floor plan, cabinets, countertops, flooring, paint colors… there are a thousand decisions to make. Your roofer becomes an important part of that process long before the first shingle is ever installed.
New construction roofing requires coordination with the builder and the other trades, an understanding of the construction schedule, and experience with the details that come with today's custom homes. We've been involved in construction long enough to know that a good roofer needs to understand more than roofing. They need to understand the build.
We've worked on new construction homes at every stage. If you are building a home in Central Florida, talk to your roofer early. The right roofing partner can make the process easier for everyone involved.
The roof may be only one part of the house. It's a pretty important one.

What Trees Are Growing in Your Yard?
We love our Florida trees. They give us shade, keep our yards beautiful and are a big part of what makes a home feel established. They can also be hard on a roof.
Leaves, acorns, seeds and pine needles can collect in valleys and around roof penetrations, holding moisture against the shingles. Branches can rub against the roof and wear away the protective granules. Larger limbs can fall during storms and damage shingles, decking and other parts of the roofing system. Debris can clog the drains on flat roofs.
Here in central Florida, where the roof is already dealing with intense sun, heat, humidity, heavy rain and storms, the trees around your home can have a real effect on how long that roof lasts.
A few simple maintenance habits can help:
• Keep branches trimmed back from the roof.
• Remove leaves, pine needles and other debris before they build up.
• Watch areas where trees hang directly over the roof.
• Take a quick look at the roof after major storms.
• Have damaged or worn shingles checked before a small problem becomes a leak.
Your trees don't have to go. Your roof just needs a little room to do its job and keep you safe.

Throwback Thursday!
Shingle roofs have been protecting Central Florida homes for generations. In our area a typical shingle roof has a practical lifespan of roughly 12–25 years but many roofs need replacement well before reaching that upper end. Proper installation and regular maintenance have a great effect on extending the lifespan of shingles, but our weather is a big challenge. Constant heat along with intense UV exposure, heavy rain, humidity, tropical weather and storms are tough on roofing materials.

Did you know that a roof in full sun can be 50 to 70 degrees hotter than the air?
When we tear off an older shingle roof, we're not just replacing shingles. We're getting a chance to see how that roofing system held up over the years including the decking, underlayment, flashing and ventilation underneath. The shingles may be the part you see, but they're only one layer of protection on the roof.
That's one reason we believe a proper roof replacement starts with understanding what we find underneath.
Throwback Thursday: a little roofing history can tell you a lot about your home today.

Why is there moisture in my attic? It is a question we hear a lot.
One of our customers bought a lovely home and needed to get some help with a few roof issues before they got to work on the inside repairs. They had a few small leaks and found some bathroom exhaust fans that weren’t installed completely. Here is a little idea of what we found when we opened this roof. The bathroom exhaust was contributing to moisture in the attic. We corrected that situation and installed some additional vents. The quick repairs were done in one day and the new spots blended seamlessly with the rest of the roof. Our customer is breathing easy in a nice dry home as they start the other renovations.

How Do I Know It's Time to Replace My Shingle Roof? It's one of the most common questions we hear from homeowners in Central Florida.
Your roof usually gives you warning signs long before it fails. Knowing what to look for can help you avoid expensive interior damage and give you time to plan.

Here are a few signs it may be time for a roof replacement:
🏠 Your roof is 15 to 25 years old. Florida's intense sun, heavy rain, and hurricane seasons can shorten the lifespan of many roofing systems.
🏠 You keep repairing the same areas. Repairs can solve isolated damage. If leaks or missing shingles keep showing up, replacing the roof may save you money in the long run.
🏠 Shingles are cracking, missing or damaged. These are signs your roof is nearing the end of its life and becoming more vulnerable to wind and water damage.
🏠 You see granules in your gutters. Asphalt shingles shed granules as they age, reducing their ability to protect your home.
🏠 You have water stains or leaks inside. By the time water reaches your ceiling, the problem has often been developing for much longer.
You don't have to guess.

We will inspect your roof, explain exactly what we find, and let you know whether a roof repair or a roof replacement makes the most sense for your home. No pressure. Just honest recommendations backed by years of experience.
If you've been searching for roof replacement in Central Florida, roof repair near me, or wondering if your roof has storm damage, we're here to help.
