In 2021, I started Mother & Son Lawn Care LLC with my son, who was just seven years old at the time.
We started with nothing. No funds, no rakes, no wheelbarrows, no fancy setup. Nothing.
It started because my son wanted to earn some money, and I wanted to teach him independence, work ethic, and what it means to build something of your own. So I made a few posts on Nextdoor, and generous people in our community gave him the chance to start by picking up leaves.
By spring, we were mowing lawns, grading land, and taking on much bigger projects than we ever imagined in the beginning.
We grew fast, and we grew because people talked. Word of mouth, referrals, and repeat clients built this company. That only happened because we focused on doing the job right. We paid attention to detail. We didn’t leave until the work looked right. That became our reputation.
We became known for quality, reliability, trust, and showing up when we said we would.
In 2025, we hired our first employees.
Now in 2026, we’ve grown even more. We have a maintenance crew, a project crew, an office manager, and HR, and we are currently looking for the right estimator and design consultant to join us. In the meantime, I still handle the quoting and the behind-the-scenes work to make sure the business is operating correctly and profitably.
And my son is still a part of it.
He now helps on the back end of the business as well, handling KPI tracking, helping create social media content, and taking on other managerial responsibilities. He has learned so much through this journey, and it means a lot to see him still involved and excited about the future of what we are building.
What started as a way for a little boy to earn money and learn independence has become something much bigger. It has become something real. Something dependable. Something we are proud of. And something that, one day, can continue to grow for future generations.
We proudly service Worcester, Shrewsbury, Holden, Westborough, Northborough, Marlborough, Sutton, Dudley, Webster, and surrounding towns.
This upcoming year is a big one for us, and my son loves seeing new service requests come in and watching this business continue to grow.
