So we’ve been “constructing” again. Hurricane Helene destroyed our meter pole. To avoid storm surges the new power panels are now up really high, on the house itself. Thanks o’toole electric—great job.

It’s been awhile and honestly I’ve been so busy with the houses in Yankeetown. I couldn’t face more work on the island. I’ll just say anything at ground level needs replacing or repair. It’s got me thinking about design changes to make everything more resilient to flooding. The house overall did very well. …now to get some power going.

It’s Saturday about three days after the hurricane flooded Yankeetown and I finally made it to the island. I was pleasantly surprised that there is power, yah for calling fans and cold drinks. We have water sort of. All of our water storage tanks were washed off the island except the one with the pump. The pipe was broken on that one and looks like it might have mud in it. But the roof collectors have water!

Stairs were damaged (one severely). septic will need some work. The shed is gone the chickee is totally trashed.

The house did extremely well as did the tower. No water damage.

Goats have been moved to chambers island Schoolhouse island storm preps done. But I feel this storm will turn east before it gets to us (like the last three).
