As we are dealing with extreme temperatures and humidity, this is a good time to double check for air conditioning safety. If you notice an A/C unit plugged into an extension cord, please say something. You may save a life!

Extension cords are not intended to power air conditioners. High current draw can overheat the plug and receptacle connection, causing melting, arcing, and potential fire ignition. This photo shows an LCDI air-conditioner cord permanently fused to an extension cord after an overload. Always plug room air conditioners directly into a properly grounded wall receptacle.
