"Salt and Stone Villa is located in the oldest Croatian royal city of Nin, surrounded by stone walls, in the immediate vicinity of the Nin Saltworks and the Salt Museum, and offers a beautiful view of the traditional production of salt in shallow pools of seawater, where salt is created by a slow natural process under the influence of the sea, sun and wind" cit. This old house was fully renovated inside and out, adapted for a rental villa for tourists that visit the island, from all over the world. The main purpose was to create a pleasant and relaxing atmosphere in the interior and exterior, adding an outdoor pool, indoor small SPA, and a grill room, which is typical for the croatian cooking tradition (konoba).
In the external environment, we wanted to emphasize the tradition and beauty of building with natural stone . We used Brač stone as a lining in and around the pool . Its gentle light tone went perfectly with traventine stone , a darker pastel shade and holey structure, with which we decorated the facade of the villa and the wall with the waterfall above the pool. Thanks to the light tones of the stone, we achieved the effect of a turquoise oasis in the pool, which entices and holds the eye.
We emphasized the outdoor space and wanted to make something exclusive. It is possible to enjoy the view from the villa, thanks to the large glass surfaces and sliding walls . In addition to the view of the sea, the Velebit mountain and the old town of Nin, the glass walls enable direct contact and connection with the garden and the pool .
The glass volume, which serves as a passage, it is a new theme that we added to the existing building, but it is very light and unobtrusive . We wanted to preserve the form of the old house, without many changes and interventions, and this passage perfectly complements it without disturbing the original form. In addition, it is functional for the guests of the house, and at the same time very beautiful and effective.
