Lime Gully Farm Viticultural Consultants and Contractors in the Martinborough area. The grapes are grown organically optimising the potential of the vineyard soils.

Limegully is located in the Longbush Valley a 12 minute drive East of Martinborough, our home consists of 13 hectares of farm, vineyard and protected QEII reserve bordered by the Whangahau River. We are developing a self-sufficient farm where we combine agriculture with viticulture practises. Our Vineyard is situated on the Longbush Lime Terrance, where we have planted Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir.

Our philosophy of winemaking is to make low intervention vintage wines. James grew up in Martinborough and has worked in the wine industry for over 20 years, first as a viticulturist then moving also into wine making. I joined James in 1991 established a contracting business both servicing vineyards and olive groves. We have a hands-on approach that enables us to manage and carry out all the activities on the Farm.

A great result today for the Mana Rākau people who faced charges in court for their peaceful protests to protect the big trees of Tāmaki Makaurau / Auckland. Three diversions and a discharge without conviction.

But they shouldn’t have had to face charges because they shouldn’t have had to do what they did. It’s because of a failure of our law to protect trees that these people faced court today.

So the fight to regain general tree protection continues and we support them in that.

When general tree protection was removed from law by John Key's National government, “we saw the chainsaws coming out across our biggest cities."

The consequence of that is we've lost a third of the urban canopy, which is a phenomenal loss in the space of 10 years.

I thought we would post some vineyard pics to show our organic management process. This vintage the summer is predicted to be a dry one, so we have decided to cultivate under the vines. First pic show first plow, second under vine cultivation. We keep the inter-row short for the Sept, Oct, Nov until the frost season is over.
