It was such a pleasure to create this new growing space for my customers, turning a neglected patch of ground into a low-maintenance kitchen garden! A thick layer of cardboard topped with bark chippings provides a plastic-free w**d barrier.

Raising the crown of this olive tree allowed more light into the house, improved the view into the garden and accentuates the tree’s beautiful shape 🌿

These overgrown beds are now nice and tidy, with new divisions from existing Geranium, Sedum and Anemone planted to fill gaps around the garden. The beds will now be bursting with colour this summer!

A redesign project from last summer, this large border was full of evergreen shrubs that had outgrown the space, obscured the lovely stained glass windows and offered little in the way of colour or seasonal interest. The client wanted planting that was beautiful but needed very little maintenance, due to the awkward access to the site for pruning, w**ding and watering. I selected crocus, daffodils and tulips start the display off in early spring, followed by long-flowering plants including asters, euphorbias, geraniums and gaura, and the lovely variegated Photinia x fraseri 'Louise' keep things bright and colourful all the way through to late autumn!

Big border tidy up today! Roses pruned and mulched, emerging daffodils and pulmonaria transplanted and lavender plants moved from a small pot to the border’s edge where they have room to grow to full size.

I was out in my own garden today, planting the last of my tulip bulbs (yes, there’s still time!) and enjoying the colours and textures of the planting lit up by the winter sun.

If you’d like some tips on which plants to incorporate into your garden for late-season colour, please get in touch! I can provide ideas and advice or a full design service.

A hedge renovation from earlier this year. This Yew’s height was reduced to allow more light into the garden and was then neatly trimmed.

I love the brilliance of the colours on this Aster, despite the dark clouds today! It’s a late flowering variety and so provides a good source of nectar for pollinators when there is little else in flower at this time of year.

With some regular maintenance including hand-w**ding, organic feeds and over seeding, this once patchy lawn is now looking much fuller and healthier.
