"When crisis hits, construction materials skyrocket. But paper? It's everywhere."

In the 1980s, architect Shigeru Ban—who rejected the idea of being a “starchitect”—found innovation in simplicity. He began using paper tubes to build temporary shelters for refugees.

His Paper Log Houses have since been deployed across five continents for over 30 years, each one redesigned to adapt to local climates and cultures.

A reminder that true architecture isn’t about fame—it’s about humanity and creativity in the face of crisis.

You’ve probably heard of Habitat for Humanity — one of the most well-known non-profits in the construction world.
But did you know one of its founders, Millard Dean Fuller, was a self-made millionaire who gave up his entire fortune to dedicate his life to helping others?
From serving intercultural communities to working as a missionary in the Democratic Republic of Congo, his mission was always about people.
🌍 Today, Habitat operates in 70+ countries and helped over 3 million people build or improve their homes just in 2024.
Proof that one idea — backed by purpose — can build a better world. 🛠️❤️.

Wildfire Containment Update & Lessons for the Future

After nearly a month of burning, the Palisade and Eaton wildfires have finally been contained—thanks to the incredible efforts of firefighters, volunteers, and countless others. 🙌

These fires have sparked important conversations about how we build in wildfire-prone areas. From the materials we choose to smarter construction systems, architects play a crucial role in reducing wildfire damage. But at the end of the day, luck still plays a major role—some things remain beyond our control.

Does a building needs to reduced it's impact in the city, or should it try to improve it? Hayñiq Kay project goes further beyond in not only creating a new economic node with a mall and offices, but also by cleaning the air through it's innovative smog tower system, as well as creating a vertical farm to further support the users.
