6 "MUST HAVES" THAT WILL INCREASE THE RETURN ON YOUR HOME IMPROVEMENT INVESTMENT:
1) Do some research to be sure the budget you set is realistic for the work being done.
2) Look at your neighborhood's median home price to determine how much you will invest. You may not be able to recoup investment costs above this amount.
3) Have all necessary permits in place before the project begins. Check with your local Zoning Office.
4) Get several quotes and perform background checks before hiring a contractor.
5) Remodel with a "public eye". Avoid custom features that may not appeal to your specific audience.
6) Invest in visible upgrades rather than practical upgrades. Prospective buyers cannot see improved plumbing and electrical or insulation, but they can see granite counters and stainless steel appliances!
