Every September and October, we face the labor-intensive process of tilling, seeding, dragging, and packing dirt across over 120 acres. This demands countless hours, fuel, and puts our equipment to the test.

But we’re thrilled to introduce a game-changing addition: a grain drill! This incredible machine slices the soil without the need for extensive preparation, directly planting seeds while preserving the existing stand. This method not only retains moisture but also benefits the environment, reduces labor, and cuts farm expenses significantly.

We’re excited to incorporate this technology into our operations for 2026, marking another transformative step for our farm!

Get ready to showcase your creativity in the annual Scare Crow Contest! Join us for a fun-filled competition that brings the community together while keeping those pesky crows away.

🗓 Important Dates:

• Install Your Scare Crow: September 25 through October 2. Contact Sommer to schedule your install appointment.

• Voting Opens: October 3 (until the end of the U-Pick season)

🏆 Categories for Voting:

• Creativity: Impress us with your unique designs!

• Movement Components: Utilize devices like shimmers to enhance your scare crow’s effectiveness.

🔍 Things to Know:

• Secure Mounting Required: Please provide your own secure mounting for your scare crow. Stakes can be driven into the ground.

• Wind Considerations: October winds can be excessive, so plan your installation accordingly to ensure your scare crow stays put!

🎁 Prizes:

• 1st Place: 12-Month Beef Box Subscription valued at over $1800!

• 2nd Place: 12-Month Ground Beef Box Subscription valued at over $600!

Over the past week, we have spent more time away from the farm than we would prefer. Selling beef directly to the public involves navigating various challenges to reach markets in surrounding areas. Despite these hurdles, we are grateful for the growth we’ve experienced and the support we’ve received as we move forward. Returning to the farm on Sunday evenings serves as a refreshing reminder of why we are committed to preserving small-scale farming and sharing its benefits with our community.

We sincerely thank you for your unwavering support! This past weekend at the DFS Farmers Market and the Niceville Community Farmers Market, we felt an incredible sense of community. We’re so excited about our newest addition, the Fair Market, which has been a fantastic experience. Last but not least, our farm store, the 9th St Market, holds a special place in our hearts… “ where every day is a Farmers Market and everybody knows your name” Wishing everyone a wonderful week ahead! ♥️
