🚰 Think your kitchen sink can handle anything? Think again!

Rice, food scraps, cooking oil and grease might seem harmless going down the sink, but they can cause serious blockages — and potentially an expensive plumbing bill.

In fact, this month alone we've already had to unblock two kitchen waste lines because of rice! 😳

We’ve put together a quick blog explaining why these everyday kitchen habits can cause problems and what you should be doing instead.

Happy Women’s Day! 🌸

Today we celebrate the strength, resilience, compassion, and determination of the incredible women who keep homes, families, businesses, and communities running every day.

At Smooth Systems Plumbing, we’re especially grateful for the women who support us, trust us with their homes, work alongside us, and make a difference in our community.

To every mother, daughter, sister, wife, grandmother, friend, and colleague – thank you for all that you do, often behind the scenes and without recognition.

We hope your day is filled with love, appreciation, and a well-deserved moment of rest.

Happy Women’s Day from all of us at Smooth Systems Plumbing. 💐

Did you know your property should have its own private water isolator (stop valve)?

Many homeowners don’t realise that, according to the City of Cape Town’s Water By-law, every property should have a private water isolator installed separately from the municipal water meter.

Why is this important?

A private isolator allows you to quickly shut off the water to your property in an emergency, such as:

A burst pipe
A leaking geyser
Plumbing repairs
Water damage inside your home

Without a working isolator, you may struggle to stop the water supply quickly, which can lead to unnecessary damage and costly repairs.

Take a few minutes to check whether your property has one. If you’re not sure, we’re happy to inspect it and provide a quote if needed.
