When water naturally seeps out into a trench like this, it shows exactly where the restrictive layer lies beneath the soil. By identifying these wet zones, we can improve subsurface drainage, prevent root stress, and make sure the trees get the oxygen they need.

Healthy roots mean healthier trees, better growth, and ultimately better production. This is why proper drainage is one of the most important steps in orchard management.

📢🚜 Farm Tip of the Day: Protect Your Pump! 💧

Have you ever heard your pump make a rattling or “gravel” sound?
That’s cavitation – bubbles forming and collapsing inside the pump because it doesn’t get enough water at the inlet.

This can quickly damage your pump, waste electricity, and cost you money.

✅ The solution: make sure your pump has enough water and pressure to “breathe”.
This is what engineers call NPSH (Net Positive Suction Head) – don’t worry about the fancy term, just remember:

👉 If the water level is too low or the suction pipe too long, your pump can get sick.
👉 If the water level is good, your pump will stay healthy.
👉 Pumps performing borderline can fail in time as wear and tear occurs.
