The CPF Sector 1 community meeting was held at the Nahoon Lifesaving Club, with representatives from SAPS, Councillor Jason McDowell, the CPF, Broubart Security and members of the community.
It was encouraging to see a stronger community turnout, reinforcing the importance of residents taking an active role in local safety.
During the meeting, SAPS reported a moderate decline in crime in the area. August also saw 113 vagrants and suspicious persons engaged, 412 AI-assisted response actions, and 15 open gates and garage doors identified across Nahoon Mouth, Nahoon, Stirling, Bonnie Doon and surrounding areas.
As we approach the festive season, residents are urged to remain vigilant, secure their properties, test their alarms and report every incident, no matter how small. Opening a case with SAPS helps link incidents, strengthen evidence and support investigations.
The reported pack of roaming hunting dogs in and around the nature reserve remains a serious concern. Residents should not approach or attempt to capture the dogs.
A quiet neighbourhood is not necessarily a crime-free neighbourhood. Please don't drop your guard.
