The Role
As a Control Room Operator, you are the first line of defense in protecting our clients. This is a critical role that requires a high degree of responsibility, quick thinking, and the ability to act decisively under pressure. You will be responsible for monitoring security systems, responding to alerts, and ensuring all incidents are handled efficiently and effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Proactive Monitoring: Actively monitor CCTV feeds, alarm systems, and other security technologies to detect and respond to potential threats.
- Incident Response: Respond promptly to all alerts and alarms, following established protocols to assess the situation and take appropriate action.
- Audio Intervention: Utilize our proactive audio intervention system to issue verbal warnings and deter suspicious individuals on-site.
- Emergency Dispatch: Dispatch armed response, notify emergency services (SAPS), and contact clients as required by the incident report and procedures.
- Documentation: Accurately log all incidents and actions taken in our incident report system, ensuring all details are captured for future review.
- Communication: Maintain clear and calm communication with all parties involved, including clients, armed response, and internal teams.
- Technical Proficiency: Operate and troubleshoot various control room software and hardware systems.
Skills and Qualifications
- Previous experience in a security control room or a similar monitoring environment is essential.
- A strong understanding of CCTV systems, alarm monitoring, and security protocols.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- The ability to remain calm and composed in high-pressure situations.
- High level of attention to detail and strong observational skills.
- A problem-solving mindset and the ability to make quick, sound decisions.
- Proficiency with computer systems and security software.
- Relevant security certifications or training are a plus.
