I take great care in understanding how we interact with the spaces around us, and I strive to create gardens that bring a sense of joy to those who spend time in them.

This little garden got so much attention, and I think I know why.

Perhaps it’s because so many of us can relate to compact garden living in Cape Town, the challenge of making a small space feel generous, while still allowing it to work for everyday demands for a family of 4.

We kept the materials simple and the layout thoroughly thought through, maximising every square metre while creating a garden that somehow feels much bigger than it actually is. There are lots of versatile little spaces to use, a lovely indoor-outdoor connection, and a lightness to the whole garden that makes you just want to spend time here.

The garden was installed by Julip_landscaping , with Cemcrete floors, and that’s about all I can share with you. 😉

The clients were absolutely wonderful, and I thoroughly enjoyed creating this gorgeous little Tamboerskloof garden — perhaps more of a little hangout nook for a very cute family.

It’s now thoroughly enjoyed by the clients… and, judging by your response, by you guys too. 🫶🏼

Happy weekend everyone — and GO THE BOKKE!

Following on from my recent Before/After post 🍂

By removing the large boundary hedges, we opened the garden to the surrounding farmland, creating borrowed views and a much stronger connection to the landscape beyond.

New winding pathways, sculptural landforms and interactive children’s play spaces have completely redefined how the garden is experienced. The play areas are still waiting to be populated with equipment, but the framework is in place for a space that will grow with the family.

A little before-and-after series for you this Friday. ✨

It feels a little risky photographing a garden at this time of year, but I wanted to share a project that isn’t just beautiful in spring and summer. Even in the heart of autumn, it’s full of warmth, texture and life.

This Val de Vie home underwent a complete transformation, evolving from a fairly ordinary garden into a biodiverse, family-focused landscape designed to be enjoyed in every season.

We went all in with layered tree planting, edible gardens, food forests, cut flowers, fruiting trees and naturalistic meadow planting, all centred around a beautiful new stone swimming pool. Every decision was made to create a garden that feels abundant, romantic and deeply connected to nature.

The evening glow across the garden is something truly special, and seeing this family enjoy the spaces we’ve created together is the greatest reward.

I hope the transformation comes through as you follow the before-and-after sequence. Some elements may feel repetitive, but that’s the beauty of watching a garden evolve.

Happy Friday, and enjoy.

Nothing personal against straight lines… but these curves changed everything. ✨

We traded thirsty lawns, rigid hedges and hard edges for flowing berms, winding pathways, organic stone, a fire boma, inviting seating spaces and layers of indigenous planting designed to welcome birds back into the garden.

The result is a landscape that feels wild, romantic and deeply connected to nature. A little less suburban, a lot more luxury safari retreat. The kind of garden that makes coming home feel like you’re arriving on holiday.

From vision to reality… and even better than expected.

So satisfying seeing a concept come to life. View the reference image at the end, design work then realisation! It’s even more romantic than I pictured ✨

This sandstone pool started off as the wrong colour—but it transformed into the most beautiful soft turquoise once settled. Set within the cork oak orchard, the stone-edged pool now feels completely immersed in nature. You can swim right out and be amongst the trees—exactly as imagined in the original concept.

Here we go again! 💋✨Official opening of the Scape Awards Entries today. Standing next to my hugely accomplished landscape architect friend Amy from who we have just started collaborating on some big projects together. It’s been immensely fun!

One of my favourite outdoor showers we have done! ✨

For this project, we commissioned artist .day.ct . I had the initial idea and design brief and she hand painted the custom mural to life! Each tile had to be carefully transported and installed, some tiles don’t make it out the kiln and had to be redone, some tiles broke on site 🙈👀 It was a lot of work and lengthy process to get right but I am thrilled for this unique piece for our lovely Newlands client ❤️
