I was called out last night to house that my clients are renting. The electricity was tripping. The tripping is not the concern of this post. This house was sold twice in 6 months and oh my word was the distribution board in a bad condition. Sold twice... there must be 2 x certificates of compliance. I feel so bad for the owner. When selling get your certificate done by a professional. There is recourse if it is not done correctly. When buying get your property re-inspected. You do have recourse for cheap bogus certificates. Eskom you suck!!!!!!!!!! We are now half way through winter and it seems that Eskom have got load shedding under control. Well this does not bode well for my business. Generator, inverter and back up power installations have come to a grinding halt. Grrrrrrr. What we all have not thought about is maintenance. The power stations are being shut down for maintenance and this is still going to have an affect on our power. Be Prepared!!!! Buy your equipment now and save when the trouble starts. For those DIY dudes it is not always as simply joining the light to the two wires especially in the days of energy saving and safety. I get many calls asking where the brown and blue wire go. This is when you should rather call me in to join those browns and blues.

Replacing your normal globes with LED is a sure way to reduce your electricity bill. Please do not buy the chinese globes. They do not last but more importantly when they blow the glass on the globe shatters and pops. This could even cause a fire.

For those of us in the North Eastern Suburbs we had a reminder about the reality power outages on the weekend. On Sunday we had two outages early morning and about 4 hours in the afternoon. Eskom claimed there was a breakdown at the substation mmmmm.
