If you suspect a burst pipe a simple test can be performed. Ensure all plumbing fixtures on the premises are off. Go to the front of the property locate the water meter and if it's ticking (i.e.the numbers are moving ) you have a leak in your hot or cold water pipes.

Once a week run hot water down the drain to help keep it free flowing. Repair leaky faucets to avoid further damage to the fixtures and faucets. Tubs and showers should be fitted with strainers that catch hair and soap chips. Clean the strainers regularly.
Do not use your toilet as a waste basket.
Do not flush facial tissue, cotton balls, make-up pads, sanitary product or diapers as they do not dissolve and can clog the lines.
Keep a trash container In each bathroom and toss these items away.

A dripping tap is more than just an annoying sound; it can waste up to 15 gallons of water per day and approximately R1000 to your yearly water bill. To avoid wasting precious water, make sure you turn your taps off all the way. If fully closed taps continue to leak. Have them repaired or replaced. Investing in plumbing maintenance now will help you save in long run.!!!
