The after... We sometimes see some interesting adaptations of installation standards. One of our customers recently has us re-wire their vessels to ensure safety standards.

✅ Junction boxes installed upright / vertically - allowing any water to drain if it enters
✅ Glands are secure / present - ensuring watertightness
✅ All junction boxes have lids and are labelled
✅ Connections are protected by junction boxes
✅ Appropriate wiring is used
✅ Cabling is neat and supported

What is wrong here?
❌ Junction box installed flat/ horizontally - water gets trapped and causes corrosion or short circuit condition
❌ Glands not secure / missing - allows water into the junction box
❌ Too many connections - Junction box not able to close
❌ No junction box - Connections cannot be protected
❌ Residential wiring and accessories used
❌️ Cables are untidy and left unsupported

We recently completed the rewiring of NRF Research vessel Phakisa.

Our team removed old wiring and reinstalled all the wiring on the vessel and gave it a much needed update on various electronics.

This was part of planned maintenance to ensure that the vessel keeps running smoothly.
