Pretoria Complex CCTV Case Study: Stopping Vehicle Break-Ins
Repeated vehicle break-ins at a Pretoria apartment complex made residents stop parking inside overnight. The body corporate asked Tandem Security Systems to assess the situation.
The complex already had perimeter security and controlled gates, but physical gate remotes were a weak point — they can be lost, copied, or kept by former residents.
What we did:
• Replaced physical remotes with app-based gate access so every entry is linked to a registered user and time.
• Limited access to two controlled points (vehicle gate and pedestrian entrance).
• Installed strategically placed AI-enabled CCTV cameras covering the gates, grounds and previously blind rear areas, with smart detection zones.
• Linked the system to an off-site control room so operators can view live events, issue voice warnings through loudspeakers, and call armed response if needed.
• Gave the body corporate access to gate and camera records for better management.
Result:
Residents have returned to parking their vehicles inside the complex overnight. No extra security guard was needed.
