Just because itโs June doesn't mean your garden needs to look bleak! Winter in the Cape is actually a fantastic time to focus on structure and cold-loving plants.
Here are three things you can tackle this weekend:
Pop into your local nursery for some cold-loving annuals like Pansies, Violas, and Primulas. They thrive in the damp, chilly weather and bring instant life to borders and pots.
Switch off your automatic evening timers. Watering early in the day gives the soil time to absorb the moisture and warm up before the freezing night temperatures set in.
Check on your winter vegetables or sweet peas. The heavy Cape winds can easily snap unsupported stems, so make sure your stakes and trellises are secure!
