When replanting an existing vineyard, a grower has three scenarios to choose from —

✳️Replace plants and preserve existing trellis and irrigation systems.

✳️Remove and replace everything. Each replant situation is different, but replant costs can be significant and are an important factor in the decision making process.

Trellis is the main support structure of grape vines in the vineyard; it must be sturdy enough to support canopy and wind loads that exert forces on the catch and cordon wires, line posts, and end assemblies. ... The weight from the vines and fruit exert a downward force (tension) on the wires.
