What’s the difference between Waterproofing and Moisture Barrier?
-Waterproofing:
• Layer that withstands continuous exposure to moisture, prevents harmful water infiltration into the structure and can stand structural movements.
- Moisture Barriers:
• Layer whose primary purpose is to prevent harmful moisture from transferring into and out of the structure through capillary flow or water v***r
diffusion.
Unlike waterproofing, moisture barriers (which by the way most of the products that exist in the market are moisture barrier masquerading as waterproofing products in the GCC mainly UAE market) are not inherently expected to withstand continuous moisture or structural movements. Moisture barrier products tend to fail almost immediately because it is cheaply manufactured to meet economic edge rather than excellence and they are not meant to withstand the climate conditions of the GCC countries.
Your structure deserves the best and you need Certified waterproofing system for each component included. Kiilto waterproofing system has a 100 years of research and development which opted the market position it is in and the prestigious certification it enjoys!
