Light, held in a wall.

We’ve been exploring clay and salt, two materials with deep cultural and architectural roots. These salt bricks are made from salt harvested at an oasis and have traditionally been used to build local structures.

What makes them remarkable is their translucency. Natural light passes gently through the bricks, filling interiors with a soft, atmospheric glow that changes from morning to evening.

A reminder that material innovation often begins with what’s already around us, where craftsmanship, climate and tradition come together to shape architecture.

ضوءٌ محتجزٌ داخل جدار.

لقد انصبّ تركيزنا على استكشاف الطين والملح؛ وهما مادتان تضربان بجذورهما عميقاً في الثقافة والعمارة. تُصنع هذه الطوب الملحية من ملحٍ يُستخرج من إحدى الواحات، وقد استُخدمت تقليدياً في تشييد المباني المحلية.

وما يميّز هذه الطوب هو خاصية نفاذية الضوء؛ إذ يتسلل الضوء الطبيعي عبرها برفق، ليغمر المساحات الداخلية بتوهّجٍ هادئٍ وساحرٍ يتغير بتغير أوقات اليوم، من الصباح حتى المساء.

إنها تذكيرٌ بأن الابتكار في المواد يبدأ غالباً مما يحيط بنا بالفعل؛ حيث تتضافر الحرفية والمناخ والتقاليد لتشكيل ملامح العمارة.

When architecture meets craftsmanship 🪵

What we love about this collaboration:

🔹 Solid yet weightless. Wood is heavy by nature, but the pieces feel as though they float. It’s an architectural idea, lifting form off the ground, translated into furniture.
🔹 Modularity with meaning. The tables can be rotated into different configurations, so one design becomes many.
🔹 Culture shapes the story. Karimoku named the collection after the Japanese word for “nebula,” inspired by the cosmic patterns in the design studies.
🔹 Sustainability as longevity. These are pieces made to last and be passed down, not replaced.

It’s a beautiful reminder that the best design comes from collaboration, where vision and craft respect each other.

حين تلتقي الهندسة المعمارية بالحرفية اليدوية 🪵

ما يثير إعجابنا في هذا التعاون:

🔹 متانةٌ تمنح شعوراً بالخفة. رغم أن الخشب ثقيل بطبيعته، تبدو القطع وكأنها تطفو؛ فهي تجسيدٌ لفكرة معمارية تقوم على رفع الكتلة عن الأرض وتحويلها إلى قطعة أثاث.
🔹 مرونةٌ ذات مغزى. يمكن تدوير الطاولات لتتخذ تكويناتٍ مختلفة، مما يجعل من تصميمٍ واحدٍ خياراتٍ متعددة.
🔹 الثقافة تصيغ القصة. استوحت علامة “كاريموكو” (Karimoku) اسم المجموعة من الكلمة اليابانية التي تعني “السديم” (nebula)، تيمناً بالأنماط الكونية التي ظهرت خلال دراسات التصميم.
🔹 الاستدامة من خلال طول العمر. صُممت هذه القطع لتبقى طويلاً، لتُورَّث عبر الأجيال بدلاً من استبدالها.

إنه تذكيرٌ رائع بأن أفضل التصاميم هي تلك التي تولد من رحم التعاون، حيث تحترم الرؤيةُ الإبداعيةُ الحرفةَ اليدويةَ، والعكس صحيح.

My favourite books as a creative business owner 📚

“The Prophet” by Kahlil Gibran covers everything about life and work, and I keep coming back to it.

“The Power of Culture” by Laura Hamill taught me that actual culture and perceived culture are two very different things.

“Happy City” by Charles Montgomery really shaped my view of how cities can make us happy people. It’s a must for anyone who designs spaces.

“HBR’s 10 Must Reads for CEOs” is my business bible, covering everything from strategy to everything in between.

Behind the scenes in Tunis Village, Fayoum 🏺

Some of the most meaningful design moments happen far from the drawing board. Here, alongside local pottery artists Ragab & Rawiya, we’ve been shaping clay into pieces that carry both story and identity.

Working by hand with artisans whose craft is rooted in this place reminds us that a space is never just about form. Every curve, glaze and imperfection holds memory, tradition and the hands that made it.

These personalized artifacts are part of our design process, a way of bringing concept into reality through collaboration with designers and makers who know their material deeply.

Design that connects people, culture and space.

خلف الكواليس في قرية تونس بالفيوم 🏺

تنشأ أعمق لحظات التصميم وأكثرها دلالةً بعيداً عن لوحات الرسم؛ ففي هذا المكان، وبالتعاون مع فناني الخزف المحليين "رجب" و"راوية"، نعمل على تشكيل الطين وتحويله إلى قطعٍ تحمل في طياتها حكايةً وهويةً مميزة.

إن العمل اليدوي جنباً إلى جنب مع حرفيين تتجذر مهارتهم في هذا المكان يذكرنا بأن المساحة لا تقتصر أبداً على الشكل؛ فكل انحناءة، وكل طبقة طلاء زجاجي، وحتى كل شائبة بسيطة، تحمل في جوهرها ذكرياتٍ وتقاليدَ وبصمةَ الأيدي التي أبدعتها.

تُعد هذه القطع الفنية الفريدة جزءاً لا يتجزأ من عمليتنا التصميمية، فهي وسيلة لتحويل الأفكار إلى واقع ملموس من خلال التعاون مع مصممين وحرفيين يمتلكون فهماً عميقاً للمواد التي يتعاملون معها.

إنه تصميمٌ يربط بين الناس والثقافة والمكان.

I knew this apartment was meant for me the moment I walked in.

In my work, I’m always thinking about visual connections, and the journey a person takes through a space. Many architects and interior designers focus heavily on how something looks. For me, the real question is how it feels: what you see as you enter, where your eye travels next, and how each room quietly leads you to the one after it.

That feeling at the door? It was the journey speaking before the design did.

Hotel Lobby · Athens

What if a hotel lobby didn't just welcome guests, but welcomed the whole city?

This interactive ground floor opens itself to the street. Large windows reveal the energy inside, turning everyday moments into part of the experience. Street-facing seating invites people to pause, connect, and engage, while curated film screenings projected within the lobby are visible from outside.

Passersby can watch and share in the atmosphere, transforming the façade into an active interface between the hotel and the city.

A lobby designed not just to welcome, but to participate.

ردهة فندق · أثينا

ماذا لو لم تكتفِ ردهة الفندق باستقبال الضيوف، بل استقبلت المدينة بأكملها؟

يفتح هذا الطابق الأرضي التفاعلي نفسه على الشارع. تكشف النوافذ الكبيرة عن الحيوية في الداخل، فتتحول اللحظات اليومية إلى جزء من التجربة. تدعو المقاعد المطلة على الشارع الناس إلى التوقف والتواصل والتفاعل، بينما تظهر عروض الأفلام المختارة داخل الردهة للمارة من الخارج.

يستطيع المارة المشاهدة ومشاركة الأجواء، لتتحول الواجهة إلى نقطة تفاعل حيّة بين الفندق والمدينة.

ردهة صُممت لا لتستقبل فحسب، بل لتشارك.

Why design?

Being a creative person means carrying an inner pull inside you, one that is always haunting you, always asking to be answered. It also means offering time and discipline to turn that pull into something real, because that’s where the joy comes from.
