When designing a plant strategy around a swimming pool, a few things to keep in mind are -

- There should be minimal leaf drop to avoid the hassle of deep cleaning the pool filter.
- The roots of the trees should be shallow as they can get into the MEP system or cause the concrete to crack.
- The overall strategy should match the theme for the entire outdoor space whether it be tropical, mediterranean or a desert oasis.
- At full maturity, the trees shouldn't be blocking any views from the house.
