BuildTech Innovations (BTI) delivered a 3D-printed artificial marine reef in Jumeirah, Dubai, UAE using large-scale 3D concrete printing technology.

The reef modules were designed and produced off-site, then transported, deployed and installed in the marine environment.

From design and digital fabrication to 3D concrete printing, delivery and installation, the complete project was delivered in just six months.

A real example of how 3D construction printing can be applied to marine infrastructure — beyond conventional buildings.

🏛 Europe is the cradle of the world’s modern architecture, and the home of its strictest building codes and compliance. Getting a new construction method approved there is anything but easy. Yet Europe has just completed its largest 3D-printed apartment building.
In France, the project delivered 12 homes across 3 floors, with every wall printed on-site. Why it matters:
• Printed in 34 days, not the planned 50 • Just 3 people supervising the build • About 10% less concrete thanks to printed curved geometry • Around 60% energy self-sufficient, meeting France’s latest energy standards
A few years ago, 3D printing meant a single demo house. Now it is multi-storey, multi-family housing. The world is printing its buildings, and we are already doing it in Dubai.

Why is 3D printing actually cheaper?

Not because concrete is cheap. It’s because up to half the cost of a concrete structure isn’t the concrete at all it’s the molds and formwork. A 3D printer needs none of that, so that whole cost line simply disappears.

Meet the machines that print buildings. 🤖
At BTI we run robotic-arm 3D concrete printers, and each has a role: • the Gantry, built for scale • the Spider, a second robotic arm we bring to your site
Concrete is mixed on site and fed straight into the printers, which build with precision most construction never sees: • accurate to 0.1 mm • up to 25 metres long • up to 4 storeys tall
They work together to print entire structures, layer by layer. This is what happens when robotics, computational design and concrete come together.

We printed an entire park. Now children play in it. 🌳
Together with our partners at Guanli, BTI 3D printed a full public park in China. Organic, flowing shapes no mould could hold, printed on site, layer by layer.

What was a construction site is now a space where families gather and children play.
