What does it take to lead a project from foundation to final handover?

Since joining Engineering Contracting Company (ECC) in 2016, Mohammad Hamze has built his career around managing complex construction activities, coordinating project teams, and turning plans into completed structures.

As a Construction Manager, Hamze oversees projects from the initial planning stages through to final handover. From reviewing progress and conducting site inspections to coordinating with engineers, suppliers, and subcontractors, his role is central to keeping projects moving safely, efficiently, and to the required standards.

Every project brings its own challenges, requiring adaptability, collaboration, and practical problem-solving to keep delivery on track. As ECC Contracting continues its 50-year journey of shaping the UAE’s landscape, Hamze reflects on what it means to be part of a team delivering some of the region’s most significant projects.

A new milestone for the ECC Group Graduate Pathways Program as we celebrate the graduation of our second cohort of graduate engineers, a program designed to nurture emerging talent, and prepare the next generation of leaders to shape the future of construction in the UAE.

Over 16 weeks, the graduates gained hands-on experience across different departments, learned from experienced colleagues and developed a broader understanding of our business. Their journey was supported by more than 100 colleagues who contributed as mentors, supervisors, builders and technical specialists.

We are proud to see our graduates now begin their permanent roles across ECC Group—four Civil Engineering graduates joining ECC Contracting at Dubai Creek Harbour projects, while an Industrial Engineer joins DesertBoard to contribute to innovation, digital technologies and AI.

In the feature, ECC Contracting Director Kareem Farah shares insights into the company’s AED 10.3 billion cumulative project portfolio under construction from 2025 to July 2026, including AED 2.8 billion worth of projects completed and scheduled for completion during 2025–2026. Another landmark project is approaching completion as Engineering Contracting Company (ECC Contracting) brings The Edge development in Business Bay, Dubai, into its final stages. Delivered as a Design & Build residential project for Select Global Development, the development stands as another testament to ECC Contracting's expertise in delivering complex, large-scale high-rise projects.

Now 98% complete and in its final stages, the project has achieved another significant milestone with the successful approvals from the Dubai Development Authority (DDA) and Dubai Civil Defense (DCD). This achievement marks the completion of all key project requirements, reinforcing the development’s compliance with the highest regulatory, safety, and quality standards.

The development comprises two residential towers (B+G+45 and B+G+34) connected by four common podium levels, with a total built-up area of 143,750 sqm. Once complete, it will deliver a premium waterfront residential destination that reflects exceptional construction quality, engineering excellence, and meticulous ex*****on.

Engineering Contracting Company (ECC Contracting) delivered Creek Beach Phases 4 & 5, a residential development for EMAAR at Dubai Creek Harbour, Dubai, UAE. Executed under a Design & Build contract, the project spans a total built-up area of 205,300 m² and comprises 18 low-rise residential buildings (7–12 floors) across five clusters—Savanna, Cedar, Mangrove, Canopy, and Moor—with SSH International serving as the project consultant.

The development features a shared GF+M+1F podium, landscaped public spaces, and a comprehensive range of integrated community amenities, including swimming pools, gyms, barbecue areas, a cinema area, children's play areas, sports courts, and parks.

In 2025, Engineering Contracting Company (ECC Contracting) completed Seagate, a premium waterfront residential development within Mina Rashid Development, Dubai, UAE.

This premium residential development comprises four mid-rise buildings of 15, 10, 6, and 5 floors above a common basement and ground floor, with a total built-up area of 66,895 m². Designed to deliver a contemporary waterfront lifestyle, the development offers thoughtfully planned residential spaces, modern architecture, and high-quality construction, contributing to the continued transformation of Mina Rashid into one of Dubai's premier waterfront communities.

Executed under a build-only contract for Emaar and designed by Studio International Engineering Consultants, the project reflects ECC Contracting’s commitment to quality, precision, and construction excellence. In 2001, Engineering Contracting Company (ECC Contracting) successfully delivered Skywalk Towers (now Marriott Luxury Apartments), a mid-rise residential development by Union Properties PJSC, located in Al Rigga, Dubai, UAE. Executed under a Build-Only contract, with Technical Studies Bureau (TEST) and Acer Hyder serving as the project consultants, the development comprised two residential towers connected by a record-setting pedestrian skybridge—the longest in the world at the time of construction—providing five-star branded accommodation.

Delivered across two separate plots, the project comprised two 16-storey towers connected by a 74-metre steel pedestrian skybridge at the upper levels. One of the key construction challenges was the precise installation of steel plates at the roof level of both buildings, requiring exact alignment in position, orientation, and elevation to facilitate the subsequent installation of the bridge. A third-party surveying company was engaged to verify the accuracy of the placement, ensuring the successful ex*****on of this complex structural connection.

The successful delivery of Skywalk Towers reflects ECC Contracting’s early expertise in executing technically challenging developments and its commitment to delivering innovative construction solutions with precision, quality, and engineering excellence.
