🌿 Holzbau als Statement im urbanen Raum

Mit dem neuen Holzbau‑Bürogebäude der Wirtschaftskammer Steiermark setzen wir in Graz ein starkes städtebauliches Signal für die Zukunft des Bauens: Ökologisch, klimabewusst und zeitlos. Der 5-geschoßige Holzbau markiert den Auftakt einer neuen städtebaulichen Entwicklungsachse und zeigt, wie sichtbare Holzkonstruktion, urbane Präsenz und flexible Arbeitswelten zusammenfinden.

Highlights 🌱

- 517.359 kg Holz → 931 t CO₂ gespeichert
- 30 Tiefenbohrungssonden
- Ausgezeichnet als Waldfonds Leuchtturmprojekt

🌿 Timber construction as a statement in urban space

With the new timber office building of the Styrian Chamber of Commerce, we are setting a strong example in Graz for the future of construction: ecological, climate-conscious, and timeless in design. The five-story timber structure marks the beginning of a sustainable development site and demonstrates how visible construction, urban presence, and flexible working environments can come together.

Highlights 🌱

- 517,359 kg of wood → 931 tonnes of CO₂ stored
- 30 geothermal probes
- Awarded as Waldfonds flagship project

Mit der Eröffnung unseres neuen Büros in Graz blicken wir auf 40 Jahre Architektur und über 1.500 erfolgreich umgesetzte Projekte zurück – und nach vorn!

Im September letzten Jahres durften wir mit unserem Team, Kunden, Wegbegleitern und Freunden, 40 Jahre Architektur mit Haltung, Kreativität, Vertrauen und Zusammenhalt feiern. Gemeinsam mit arcane_tv zeigen wir anhand unseres neuen Büros, was uns als Viereck Architekten ausmacht und täglich antreibt: Passion.

With the opening of our new office in Graz, we look back on 40 years of architecture and more than 1,500 successfully completed projects - and ahead to the future.

In September last year, we had the pleasure of celebrating 40 years of architecture defined by integrity, creativity, trust, and teamwork together with our team, clients, long-time partners, and friends. Together with arcane_tv we showcase through our new office what defines us as Viereck Architekten and drives us every day: passion.

Endlich fertig!

Es erfüllt uns mit enormen Stolz, diesen Meilenstein nach intensiven 5 Jahren Planung & Koordination vollbracht zu haben.

High-Tech trifft Poesie: Die neue OSC Zentrale Leitstelle, ein High-Tech Bürogebäude

So dynamisch wie die Natur - Die automatisierte Faltfassade aus Aluminium bewegt sich wie eine kinetische Skulptur und kann aktiv auf Umwelteinflüsse reagieren. Ihr parametrisches Lochmuster spiegelt die fließenden Konturen der österreichischen Flusslandschaften wider - eine architektonische Hommage an den Rhythmus der Natur.

Im Inneren bildet ein lichtdurchflutetes Atrium, mit einer markanten, terracottafarbenen Treppe, das Herzstück des Gebäudes.

Ein großes DANKE an unser grandioses Projektteam, an den fürs Vertrauen in unsere Kompetenz als Generalplaner und an alle Beteiligten die dieses Projekt auf den Boden gebracht haben!

Finally completed!

High-tech meets poetry: The new OSC Central Control Center; a state-of-the-art office building

As dynamic as nature itself, the automated folding aluminum facade moves like a kinetic sculpture, actively responding to environmental changes. Its parametric perforation mirrors the fluid contours of Austrian river landscapes—an architectural tribute to the rhythm of nature.

Inside, a light-filled atrium featuring a striking terracotta staircase serves as the building’s vibrant heart.

Meet the team!

Milan, Planung | Architektur:

Milan ist Teil unseres McDonald’s Teams: ”Was ich wirklich schätzte, ist die Stimmung im Büro. Ich fühle mich nicht als Teil einer Gruppe, sondern wirklich als Mitglied eines Teams, wo ich viel lernen und viel beitragen kann. Es schafft eine reibungslose und gemütliche Atmosphäre beim Arbeiten die mir sehr gefällt.” Milan würde seinen Charakter in Form einer Sozialwohnung einordnen, seine Begründung: “Ich lege nicht viel Wert auf das Äußere und erste Eindrücke, das passiert einfach oder nicht. Wenn man mich besser kennenlernt, bin ich voller Empathie und kümmere mich besonders um Menschen, die mir am Herzen liegen.”


Mario, Planung | Architektur:

Mario ist ebenfalls bei den McDonald’s Projekten tätig. “Mein Aufgabenbereich geht von Entwurf bis Detailplanung, Angebots- sowie Rechnungsprüfung” Ganz besonders schätzt er das Team sowie die Vielfalt der Lernmöglichkeiten in unserem Büro. In seiner Freizeit spielt er gerne Volleyball und Golf.

Milan | architecture:

Milan is part of our McDonald’s team:
“What I really appreciate is the atmosphere in the office. I don’t feel like just part of a group, but truly like a member of a team where I can both learn a lot and contribute a lot. It creates a smooth and comfortable working environment that I really enjoy.”
Milan would describe his character as being like social housing, and his reasoning is:
“I don’t place much value on appearances or first impressions—it just happens or it doesn’t. But once you get to know me better, I’m full of empathy and especially caring toward the people who matter most to me.”

Mario | architecture:

Mario is also involved in the McDonald’s projects.
“My responsibilities range from design to detailed planning, as well as reviewing offers and invoices.”
What he particularly appreciates is the team and the variety of learning opportunities in our office. In his free time, he enjoys playing volleyball and golf.

Ein weiteres Herzensprojekt für die Ronald McDonald Kinderhilfe. Der Umbau für das Haus in der Borschkegasse in Wien wurde fertiggestellt und an die Hausleitung übergeben.

Insgesamt konnten wir gleich vier Projekte erfolgreich einreichen und damit die Jury überzeugen.
